A liaison between the classroom, parent community and the PTA
We are excited to offer a new opportunity to participate and be involved in your child’s elementary school experience. This year at Hillside, each classroom will be appointing one or two PTA Room Captains. We are hopeful that this will keep everyone informed of different school events and opportunities, and to also help with various classroom functions. We feel that staying connected to one another and having clear communication is the best way to support the needs within our community. This will also help to build lasting and sustainable parent, teacher and student relationships.
Below is an explanation of the commitments, which would be shared with another room captain.
Communicate and collaborate with your classroom teacher on class celebrations and support their needs (Ex: Help assist planning a class party, create a signup genius for classroom families to donate items/time, ect.)
Attend the monthly PTA general meetings (in person or on zoom) to be informed/support school functions, and be a key communicator of any PTA events and plans to your classroom community.
Be in touch with an appointed PTA board member so you feel supported and have your ideas heard.
Volunteer for one PTA event this school year.
Give a welcome letter to any new students and families joining your class, and give them information regarding the class and school happenings.
Support the PTA with planning and preparations, and be an inclusive leader.
We hope that you will take this opportunity to be a leader and communicator for your child's classroom this year! It is so important as a school that we have the support of our Hillside families to be able to offer wonderful opportunities and make your time with us a success. If you are interested in this role, please send an e-mail to your teacher and someone will be in contact soon.
Thank you for considering helping your student, their class, the PTA and our school!
